
THE FUTURE OF EMPLOYEE BENEFIT PROVISION
FLEXIS ON-LINE is a web-based shopping mall of benefits, allowing employees total flexibility in how they choose to spend their subscribed benefit allowance.
FLEXIS benefits are based on a points system that can be tailored to suit the needs of the individual employer and employee. Points have a monetary value but this can vary with benefits depending on the discount brokered with the suppliers. What is more, there are varying tax advantages between benefits and members will be advised on this through the FLEXIS ON-LINE scheme.
Once individuals have their benefit allowance they can then visit the FLEXIS ON-LINE web site 24 hours a day and choose how to spend their allocation. The web sites provides personal information on points available, spent and remaining. It also has a series of pages offering an array of services such as:
· FINANCIAL (Savings, Mortgages, Individual IFA advice, tax advice)
· HEALTH (Private Healthcare, Dental Care)
· TRAVEL (Car Leasing, rail travel, holidays etc)
· RETAIL VOUCHERS (Clothes, food, DIY etc)
· ENTERTAINMENT (Restaurants, cinemas, theatres, sporting venues)
Once individuals have made their choice, the information is passed to the FLEXIS helpdesk, where it is acknowledged and actioned. The helpdesk is also available to answer any individual queries.
HOW DOES A COMPANY ESTABLISH THE SCHEME?
FLEXIS Consulting Ltd is able to offer a consultancy service to assist clients tailor the service to meet the precise needs of their company. Two suggested formats are as follows:
· Core + Flexible Benefits (presently adopted by Delphis Consulting PLC and Dauphin Recruitment Ltd). The company provides a level of "Core" Benefit Provision (e.g. Pension, Healthcare, Group Life Assurance, and Permanent Health Insurance) and then each employee is awarded an additional amount of points from which he/she can choose how to spend it in the FLEXIS ON-LINE shopping mall.
· Salary Sacrifice The company subscribes to a level of benefit provision (15 -25 % of salary) and it is up to the individual how he/she apportions that figure and to what. A Notional Salary (NS) is calculated, but the employer's emphasis is on the Total Remuneration Package (TRP) for each employee or potential employee. {i.e. TRP of £30,000 (NS £25K + 20% benefit provision)}. The employee then chooses how to spend the £5K allocated to benefits. In addition he/she can opt to reduce the NS and increase the allocation to benefits (e.g. to purchase extra holiday for a special trip that year).
HOW DOES A COMPANY PAY FOR THE FACILITY?
Once a company subscribes to the service it leases the product for a monthly fee. This cuts out large "up-front" costs, which to date have precluded small and medium sized companies from offering similar attractive benefit packages presently only available to employees of large multi-nationals.
